It seems a little strange that I have decided to blog once again in the midst of all the projects, meetings, readings, assignments... Currently, I am quite busy with my SMIF Initiation on Bonvests Holdings, but it will soon come to an end, seeing that I finally balance my balance sheet, using a dirty way.... After this, think I will find another company to initiate and finally can fully concentrate on my studies... Ever since the beginning of Term 2, I have been busying with non-study related school stuffs, like this SMIF Initiation, Case competition, etc. I really want to settle down and finish all my readings.... This term is really a reading/mugging term. My BGS prof give readings like nobody business. Haizz....

Another thing is that Project Agape sort of reaches 10 - 12% of the planning stage, with us finalizng on the date for recce to Philippines with Mr Gary. For one reason or another, I am really looking forward this trip and I believe that Kevin and xiujing will definitely do a great job. What's left is only the recce and then will be the preparation for pre-expedition events, like fund raising, etc.

I just had a most adventurous dream ever.... maybe because for the first time ever since I stepped into SMU, I slept before 12 midnight all the way till morning...

Here it goes....

The setting is tt there is old world and new world. For the past few decades, the old world has been suffering oppression from the new world. I think there is a name for both old world and new world, but i cannot remember, so just put it as old and new world. As for the new world, they are technologically advance, able to do a lot of things. The link between the old world and the new world is some lifts inside the same building. That building look like the dunnoe what hotel (or is it a hotel) near bras brasah, the one used by Unbeatables III. In order to access the new world, the new world citizen would have to scan their cards when boarding the lift.

As you can imagine, even though the new world is more technologically advance, the citizens are actually very limited. All the new world citizen are actually living in the same building, with the king of the new world staying on the top floor.

So who am I? I am the son-in-law of the king of the new world. Don't ask me who is my wife, I dun remember seeing her in my dream. So the story goes on that initially everything seems so relax and happy, and I shall skip to the crucial point.

Everything started when I went outside to the old world, carrying my grey sling bag into one hawker centre. I put my sling bag down and order some food. Then i saw my BMT friend, so I approached him and chit chat with him. Dunnoe why I walk along with him while chit-chatting instead of asking him to sit down. So after that I think I go back to my new world and dunnoe do what. This is then I realize that I left my bag outside, with my mobile in it. So I go back to the old world and look for it, but i couldn't find it. Therefore, I go to the Lost and Found counter, which is situated in the arcade. This arcade is quite different from the rest of the arcade. There is no people, all of a sudden I saw one robot sweeping the floor. When I want to see clearer, somebody call me and ask me what I want. I say I am looking for the lost and found counter, and she lead me into the second floor.

At the lost and found counter, they put the bags nicely on the shelf. I saw my bag, and I am damn happy. So I say that is my bag. Without verification, the person just take my bag. When I take a closer look, actually it is not my bag. So i look carefully, my bag is over at the other side, so I told the person that this is not my bag and ask him to take my bag. This time round he confirm whether the bag he is taking is my bag before giving me. So when I take a look again, the bag that he has given me seems to have changed shape and style. Now, I never really insist as I feel something has gone wrong.

So when I am making my way back to my new world, I saw Eric, my LTB group mate coming, saying that the old world are invading the new world and ask me to hurry up and rush back to help. So while approaching the lift, Eric ask me to stand guard at the door, while he is waiting for the lift to come, then when the lift arrived, he ask me to go inside, and wait for him while he find his friend. Inside the lift there is another girl, china girl to be exact. Because I am anxious to go back and scared some old world pple might find the lift, I immediately scan my card and press on 3 to access to the new world. The lift took about 10 mins to reach the new world. In the meantime, dunnoe why I suspect that the china girl is a spy. So I handcuff her, but I dunnoe where and why my handcuff appear.

Upon reaching the new world, I saw my mother-in-law, the queen of the new world and told her that I caught a spy. Then she ask me to bring her down to the cells. After finishing this task, I go back to my room, and rest. Then I saw Eric... Upon seeing him, he run away. I keep chasing after him, wanting to explain how come I never wait for him. He leads me to somewhere even more deep inside, then he say he forgive me, before I do my explanation. This is when I realized that we are being invaded by the machines from the old world, and Eric is the spy from the old world, that's why he lead me down to the basement. So I am trying to avoid the missile shoot by the machines. Eventually, I got caught. Next thing I know, I saw my father-in-law being caught, and the king of the old world say this to him to him:

"I will never forget how the new world destroyed us decades ago. From then on, I swear that the new world will suffer the same fate."

Supposedly this is the end of the story, but it is not end of the dream. It is just like a totally new story, I found myself at the building again. I made a big detour and saw four holes. Then, two things shoot up, and they transform into robots. Like transformers sia.... Then I saw Wayne here, and he is carrying one carton of coke. So as we walked, we reach the warehouse of Sheng Siong. Somehow they left their drinks unguarded. So wayne suggest to put down the carton of Coke and both of us get one Can of ice lemon tea. I say aren't this consider stealing... He say no because we return one carton of coke. So I also stupidly agree and drink that ice lemon tea. Next thing I know, the security guard caught us and say that we steal their ice lemon tea. So we are being brought up to the managing director (YF's father) office and wait for him. Then I woke up...

After I woke up, I keep thinking of this dream and find it similar to something:

The New World is just like SMU, new and different, and need to scan cards to go in. But if after being different, they are complacent and never bother abt the old world. They allow the old world to be more technologically advanced without knowing it. So in the end, it is being exterminated by the old world.

Today is my 22nd birthday... Here the old Thiam Hock getting older by another year... Somehow, since young, I am always not in the mood in celebrating birthday. Since it occurs every year, why is there a need to celebrate. However, as I grow older, birthday has become sort of a burden to me. Everyone hope that you will be happy in your birthday, that is the burden. Today I spend my birthday in school discussing LTB as our presentation is coming up. Even though I tried very hard not to go to school today, but still... due to some major changes, we need more time for the rehearsal. So really is llst.

Talking about LTB, I sort of feel that my burden is getting heavier and heavier, especially when now we could not even secure a sponsorship or something and the project is gonna be held nxt weekend. In fact, not only LTB, in every project, I am like the leader. For CAT, LTB, TWC and FA. I wonder when will I start to break down. Luckily for external commitment like competitions and CSP, I got Kevin and Wayne to be the leader, and I am confident they will be wonderful leaders.

Anyway, I know this is very very late, but I still wanna say. Finally Terence, Yuan Feng and Li Shang have left Singapore, abandon us and enjoy in UK le. Not to say really abandon and enjoying, but they still left Singapore. For the past few years, I have been spending quite a fair bit of time with both Terence and Yuan Feng. So now i am still on the adjusting phase on life without them. Haa... Do I sound gay?

Without Terence, there wun be another person to argue with me. Wayne and Kevin dun bother to argue because they are not problem kids. There also wun be another person who will talk in a louder voice than me. Now, I have the loudest voice and I am not used to it.

Without Yuan Feng, there wun be another person suddenly finding me to talk 'xin shi'. In fact, although I am a well-known broadcaster, but I always keep YF secret secret, not even to Kevin and Terence. There also wun be another person to confide with. YF is the most patient listener I have ever seen.

I think now I still sound gay, so I better dun continue. In summary, enjoy your education over in UK and have fun.

Lastly, a very belated birthday to Kevin.

25th September - This particular day of every year, will be the day that I will think of her. A lot of times, I always thought that the only existence of her is in my mind. She just forms part of my memories. But somehow, I still couldn't forget her. Call me foolish and stupid if you want to. I also think that I am damn stupid. She is having a good bf (I hope) now, earning stable income. Won't be surprise that one day she got married. Whatever that happen between us is just like a dream, a dream that etch on my heart. However, I just couldn't understand how come we cannot even be like normal friends. I don't even have her msn, or maybe I don't want to see her in my list so that I would not be reminded of that memory.

Today during my LTB lesson, my team member make a comment on me and june... I am surprised. June's emotion is even worse. Somehow, despite my constant effort to encourage my team member be candid, be frank, does not help much. I am not piss by the fact that they have such an opinion, but I am piss that how come u need my TA to prompt you, then you say that. I have make it very clear, whatever conflicts and misunderstandings that each of them are having, they just say it out to the person involve, and we will work around there. However, seems that this message seems ineffective.

Also happen today, I have an informal chatting/interviewing session with YF's Father, Mr Lim. For those who know who is he, good. I got to know his business strategy and his approach towards managing an enterprise. I can say that I am quite amazed. He has a very strong belief that human resource is the key for expansion or any strategies or plans. He do not use theory that are being taught in polytechnics and universities. He believes in his experience and believes in leadership by example. A great and inspiring session I would say.

As what Kevin has said, this weekend is the only weekend so far that I totally never do anything related to school. By right, I am suppose to meet Thomas, aka Shun Qiang for some toastmaster event today at Ang Mo Kio, but he put me aeroplane because of some presentation rehearsal. I am a type of person that don't like to go to someplace alone, therefore I never attend that event and ended up lost $12. So I end up sleeping whole day long today.

Sleeping has been a luxury ever since I am a full-time student. My daily sleeping time will always be about 2 am to 3 am, and wake up time is about 7 am to 8 am, unless for some special circumstances like every Thurs and Fri, where I can wake up very very late. But this shouldn't be the right way as once u wake up late, there will be a lot of time wasted that could have otherwise used in some constructive stuff.

In my previous entry, I said that I joined a lot of clubs and how many will I be left with eventually. E.Y.E, SMU-ISE, and SMIF all have their weekly sessions on the same day at the same time. I really sincerely wanna go for E.Y.E weekly cell group meetings, training session conduct by ISE, but I still end up choosing SMIF training over the other two. So now, my only active CCAs are left with Toastmaster and SMIF, which just started. Anyway, for Toastmaster, I will be giving my first project speech on 16 October, one day after my birthday.

Till now, I will say SMU is a very project-based university. In fact, just one Leadership and Teambuilding Community Service project is enough to tire us out. Talking about Leadership and Teambuilding, it is often wondered why the hell we need to take such course in uni level. There is no way u can learn about leadership if you don't experience it. Yes, that's right. That's why we got this Community Service project that we have to plan, organize and implement. This CSP reminds me of NYAA residential project, just that there are some additional things u have to take note of. I am being appointed as the leader for the whole project. Seriously, you will encounter stuffs that you know you need to solve it, but you don't know how, for example, problems with individual group members. So I believe I will learn a lot of things that I couldn't have got it from books in this course.

Next Saturday, Terence, Shang, and Yuan Feng gonna fly to UK for another phase of their life. Tomorrow, we gonna have a farewell lunch for Terence and YF with the 04 girls.... For some reasons, anna and gang jian chi don't want to attend Terence bday last sat, tt's why there is this farewell lunch thingy.

Something Interesting to Share....

A ship sank in a storm. Five survivors scrambled aboard two lifeboats: a sailor, a girl, and an old man in one boat. While the girl's fiancee and his best friend in the second. During that evening the storm continued, and the two boats separated. The one with the sailor, the girl and the old man washed ashore on an island and was wrecked. The girl searched all night in vain for the other boat or any sign of her fiancee.

The next day, the weather cleared, and still the girl could not locate her fiancee. In the distance she saw another island. Hoping to find her fiancee, she begged the sailor to repair the boat and row her to the other island. The sailor agreed, on the condition that she sleep with him that night.

Distraught, she went to the old man for advice. "I can't tell you what's right or wrong for you," he said, "Look into your heart and follow it." Confused and desperate, she agreed to the sailor's condition.

The next morning the sailor fixed the boat and rowed her to the other island. Jumping out of the boat, she ran up the beach into the arms of her fiancee. Then she decided to tell him about the previous night. In a rage, the financee pushed her aside and said, "Get away from me! I don't want to see you again!" Weeping she started to walk slowly down the beach.

Her fiancee's best friend saw her and went to her, put his arms around her, and said, "I can tell that you two have had a fight. I will try to patch it up, but in the meantime I will take care of you."

Ever since my life in SMU has started, I have never made a single entry into this blog. If I told you I am busy, it is definitely an excuse. Maybe I just don't bother.

Finally, after 2 years of waiting, I have stepped into the world of education again. All I can comment is that life in university definitely is different compare to poly. In poly, there is always this honeymoon period before all the projects come in. For uni, there is also honeymoon period, but this honeymoon period seems busier compare to the busy period in poly. So just imagine it.... During my first week of school, I am in school from mon to sun. Yes, mon to sun, even on sunday.

Currently, I am taking 5 courses, 4.5 CUs, which are namely, Financial Accounting, Technology and World Change, Leadership and Teambuilding, Computer As an Analysis Tool and Academic Writing. From all these courses, you will know I am currently in a very project-intensive term. As of now, Leadership and Teambuilding class is the most fun.

So how about CCAs? Am I a mugger? Somehow, I am trying to cover up what I have lost in poly. So I took the initiative to join quite a few clubs. First, there is this E.Y.E investment club, which I all along wanna join. Then I joined SMU Xtremist, or in short, SMUX under trekking and Xseed. I believe that I will be able to understand more about myself. Next, I joined Toastmaster Club so that I can gain confidence in public speaking, which is very important especially for a soft-spoken person like me who need to survive in SMU. Lastly, I joined the SMU-ISE (Initiative for Social Enterprise), which focuses on social entrepreneurship. Above all this, I also voice my interest in the Student Association in SMU and the Student Managed Investment Fund. So, am I crazy? I dunnoe.... Maybe in a few months time, I will end up with no CCA.

Currently, this is the end of Week 3. I have gradually adapted to student life once again. I will be having my first presentation on TWC next week on Telephone. Personally, not that I wanna boast or hao lian, but I really think our presentation is really good. Anyway, just to add one final thing, SMU girls can be really hot.... Haa...
